Mount Si High School sports return, with conditions

Following loosening guidelines from the state, Mount Si High School is gearing up to return student athletes to the field, with modified guidelines.

The maximum group size for athletics events is set at 200, or 25% of capacity for an event, whichever is lower, for all gatherings for K-12 sports. This limit includes the athletes, coaches, officials, medical personnel, and others required for a game to proceed. Because of this, there will be no student spectators allowed at the Season 1 home games.

However, the district will allow two parents or guardians who are already listed in Family Access to attend home games up to the 200 person limit as long as there is staff to supervise the game. For some sports, this may mean that only one parent can attend.

Parents and guardians must complete a daily health check and attestation before entering the facility to help screen for COVID-19 cases. This attestation will count as a ticket and there will be no entry fee. Parents and guardians will not be able to attend away games.

While it’s a beginning of a return to normal for high school athletics, social distancing of at least six feet is still required and no food or drink is allowed, and concessions will remain closed. Further, no leaving and re-entry will be allowed. Due to a shortage of bus drivers, parents and guardians will be responsible for transporting students to away games.

The district will be livestreaming sports and activities on the NFHS Network beginning March 8. The goal is to stream nearly every game so friends and family can follow and support students.

NFHS Network will offer the programming for free for all Mt Si High games that are livestreamed from the school’s facility, or by livestreaming volunteers. Those interested will have to create an account on the NFHS Network and search for MT Si games that are published.

To avoid paying a subscription fee, the district recommends the following:

In some cases, our opponents may also be livestreaming our games on the NFHS Network. If you try to watch one of their livestreams, NFHS may ask that you subscribe (monthly or annual fee). To ensure access to our free content, before selecting a game, look at the lower right-hand corner of the game you are selecting and make sure it reads ‘Pub. By Mount Si.’ This means Mount Si is doing the actual livestream and no payment or subscription will be required.
