A three-alarm brush fire burned just outside North Bend city limits Thursday (July 29) as fire crews worked to extinguish the flames.

Eastside Fire & Rescue confirmed the fire just after 1 p.m. Thursday in the Derry Lake area. According to the city of North Bend, the first response was close to Olallie State Park off exit 38 of Interstate 90. This is approximately 4 miles southeast of city limits.

Eastside Fire & Rescue said an hour later the flames were burning along a fire service road further east of the lake. The fire department reported no homes are nearby or under threat.

Multiple fire crews, and the U.S. Forest Service, are working to contain the fire.

Eastside Fire & Rescue said the approximately 2 acre fire is 50% contained and has been turned over to the U.S. Forrest Service. Eastside Fire & Rescue resources will remain on the scene.

The fire was caught and contained at 1.4 acres on July 29, according the U.S. Forest Service. The fire was cause by target shooting.
