Mt. Si Senior Center re-opens Aug. 2

The Mt. Si Senior Center will reopen its doors for on-site programming on Aug. 2 after being closed for more than a year.

“We are so excited to welcome back our community members after this long wait,” said Mt. Si Senior Center Executive Director Susan Kingsbury-Comeau. “Everyone is welcome to rejoin us when they are ready.”

The center will be open weekdays between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with lunch served at noon.

Masks are recommended, but will not be required for fully vaccinated visitors. The center will continue to follow state guidelines on masks and social distancing. The Mt. Si Senior Center is a nonprofit facility, serving those 50 and older in the Snoqualmie Valley. The center first closed back on March 12, 2020.

During the height of the pandemic, the center switched to online programming and provided meals to-go. Over the last year and a half, the center is estimated to have served about 16,000 to-go meals to 123 seniors. This spring, the center began outdoor programming, including several drive-through events.

“We wanted to make sure our seniors are feeling cared for and connected,” said Kingsbury-Comeau. “We’ve been pleased to serve our seniors during these last 18 months and we’re even more excited that we’ll be seeing them in person.”
