Valley rider is champ at fair
Alisha Armstrong, 18, a member of the Hooved Angels 4-H Club of Snoqualmie, placed at State of Washington Grand Champion at the Puyallup Fair on Thursday, Sept. 4, on her Morgan horse, Neverlands Wendy Darling.
A 2008 graduate of Mount Si High School, Armstrong also placed fourth in state in the Hunt Seat Equitation Championship Round.
Armstrong now graduates from 4-H at the senior level. She has enjoyed competing as a two-time King County 4-H state team representative in the horse project.
She now seeks sponsors for a one-year mission trip to Mexico. If all goes well, she will help build housing for impoverished families with Caravan Ministries. Armstrong will also utilize five years of Spanish lessons by teaching English to Spanish-speaking children in orphanages.
Golfer gets hole-in-one at Mt. Si
Richard McGehee made a hole-in-one recently at Mount Si Golf Course. The ace took place on the fourth hole at a distance of 116 yards using an eight iron.
