Mount Si’s gymnastics team opened their season last Thursday night with a four-way meet at Interlake High School in Bellevue, pitting the Wildcats against the Saints, Newport and Skyline.

Mount Si as a team only competed against the Interlake team, and the Wildcats won that battle easily, 150.75 to 114.15.

Mount Si was led in the all-around standings, which contained gymnasts from all four teams competing in the meet, by junior Georgia Reynolds, who won that competition by scoring a 34.7. The all-around is the combined total of scores on the meet’s four events: the vault, bars, balance beam and floor exercise.

Reynolds took second in the vault with an 8.8 score; second in the bars with an 8.0; tied for first on the beam with an 8.5; and won the floor exercise with a 9.4.

Fellow junior Rachel Karavias scored a 31.3 in the all-around, earning her fifth place in those standings. Karavias finished fifth on the bars with a 6.2 and third on the beam with an 8.0.

Sophomore Kennedy Richmond had a solid varsity debut, scoring an eighth place in the all-around with a 30.1 score. Richmond finished fifth in the vault with an 8.3 and landed a tie for third on the floor with a strong 8.8.

Senior Brittany Cragin finished ninth in the all-around with a score of 29.85; Cragin finished tied for third on the vault with Karavias; both scored an 8.6 in that event.

Mount Si this week is at Sammamish High School in Bellevue, taking on the Totems as a team, and as individuals, along with Sammamish, Interlake and Liberty. The meet starts at 7 p.m. Sammamish is led by Alexis Osborn, who won the all-around in their opening meet last Thursday, Dec. 4 against the Patriots, who are led by Danielle Kemmerer. Osborn won the floor exercise and vault in that meet, while Kemmerer won the bars. It looks to be a solid test for Mount Si.
