Garage sale this weekend to benefit cancer research

A garage and bake sale will be held this Friday and Saturday, May 20-21, as part of the Snoqualmie Ridge’s annual community sale, to raise funds for pediatric cancer research.

The sale is part of the “Do it for Zander” fundraiser organized by Snoqualmie residents Angelina and Scott Wainhouse, whose 13 year old son Zander died of brain cancer last December.

The fundraiser, which benefits the Children’s Brain Tumor Foundation, is looking to raise $14,000. Zander, who was diagnosed in 2020 and would have celebrated his 14th birthday on April 24.

The sale will be held at the corner of Templeton Avenue Southeast and Brinkley street in Snoqualmie from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can also donate online and read more about Zander’s story at: bit.ly/3JKadub.

With two weeks left until the fundraiser closes, it has already hauled in almost $9,000.

Throughout the months of April and May – which is Brain Cancer Awareness Month – the Wainhouse Family will be walking a total of 350 kilometers, one kilometer for each day Zander battled cancer.

“To honor Zander’s legacy of kindness and giving, we want to find a cure and give hope to the next family dealing with cancer,” she said last month. “Our children desperately need new treatments to fight cancer.”
