On Jan. 31, Snoqualmie City Council member Matt Laase notified Mayor Katherine Ross and fellow council members of his resignation from the council effective immediately.

“I look forward to spending more time with those that need me the most, and that is the most important thing right now,” Laase wrote in his resignation letter. “I want to thank those that have supported me on this journey and provided me with the opportunity to represent the citizens of Snoqualmie these last 5 years. Snoqualmie is the greatest town in America, and it has been a privilege serving you.”

Mayor Ross commented: “It has been a pleasure working with Matt, both on City Council and as Mayor, and I thank him for his dedication to Snoqualmie residents over the past five years.”

Laase was first elected to City Council Position 5 in November 2017, and was serving the second year of his second term on the council. His term expires on Dec. 31, 2025.

In mid-February, the Snoqualmie City Council is expected to adopt a timeline for seeking applications for the vacant position and appointing a new council member. When the application period is open, the community will be notified via the city website and social media channels.
