Barbara Jean Amos Haugan was born May 15, 1932 in Sargent, Nebraska and passed away March 2, 2023 in Kirkland, WA. She was the oldest of four children of Vernon and Mary Amos. The family moved to Washington when she was a child and she graduated from Highland High School in Cowiche, WA in 1950. Following her graduation the family moved to Carnation where she primarily resided until her passing. She had four children of her own, Michael, Karen, Diane Sue and Mark Michaud. She married Chester Haugan in 1976 and they were happily married for 10 years before he passed away while logging. Barbara worked for the United States Postal Service in Carnation for over 20 years, retiring in 1997. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family and gardening.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Vernon and Mary Amos; husband Chet; brothers Bob and Norman; son, Michael; step sons, James and Michael. She is survived by her children Karen Michaud, Kihei, HI; Diane Sue Michaud, Nampa, ID; Mark Michaud, Duvall, WA; step daughters Carole (Arvid) Moklebust, Carnation, WA and Betty Doud, Seattle, WA; brother Dick and wife Linda Amos, Sister-in-laws Diane Amos and Bonnie Amos, grandchildren Jessica (Brian) Ackley, Aaron Michaud, Sheridan Moklebust, Amanda Moklebust (Eric Villas), Paul and Jennifer Doud; great grandchildren Kimberly, Brian and Brentley Ackley, Amelia Pontnak and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial reception will be held May 13th from 1:00 – 3:00 PM at the Sno-Valley Senior Center in Carnation. Memorials may be made in Barbara’s memory to the Sno-Valley Senior Center.
