Carnation welcomed a new shop into town in mid-November. Heart and Sol Wellness, owned by six-year Carnation resident Bethany Lafferty, hopes to bring health and wellness services and products closer to the community.
The shop is located along Tolt Avenue and specializes in professional whole food and herbal nutrition as well as services including muscle testing, ionic detox foot baths, LED therapy, heart sound recordings and a sauna.
According to the website, these services provide physical solutions to help with detoxification, microcirculation, stress reduction, cell healing and repair.
Lafferty, the sole owner and employee, previously offered in-home services, but decided that opening a shop would allow her to reach a broader audience.
“Opening a brick-and-mortar allows me to serve and help more people with their health and truly be in the community, rather than just word of mouth,” she said. “Also, many of the things I offer are hard to find within 30 minutes of Carnation, so access to more people is made available with a brick-and-mortar store.”
To wrap the health and wellness business into a one-stop shop, Lafferty offers an extensive list of natural products such as supplements, CBD, beauty products, tea, locally made soaps and other Pacific Northwest products.
Lafferty said she curates bundles of these products specifically designed for gifting. She emphasized the gratitude she has received from husbands who buy these bundles as holiday or birthday presents for their wives.
Since the shop opened, Lafferty said she has received a positive and encouraging response from the community.
“Many have been searching for answers, have traveled far and wide for access to these resources, have paid triple or more for these services,” she said. “ And many [people] are already reporting back that they are experiencing substantial results with alternative, holistic and healthier options.”
She noted that individuals have reported experiencing lower stress levels, improved digestion and relief from long-standing pain issues.
Although this is Lafferty’s first health and wellness shop, she has spent more than 10 years alongside her dad working with healthcare practitioners as an educator for applying whole food nutrition and herbs.
Over time, Lafferty has accumulated experience as an applied clinical nutritionist and functional herbal therapist. She also holds training in nutrition response testing and muscle and reflex testing.
Lafferty is also a seasoned entrepreneur. In college, she opened a catering business and a coffee shop, which has helped her in her current ventures.
She said the catering business honed her problem-solving skills, and has contributed to her success in her new shop and everyday life.
As Lafferty continues to help provide alternative health and wellness solutions, she said she wants to provide hope, better answers, better solutions and results to anyone who walks through the shop doors.
“Doing less harm and helping more people toward health,” she added.
