Snoqualmie and North Bend drivers may have to plan ahead as contractors work to restore two Kimball Creek bridges supporting Meadowbrook Way SE.
According to a traffic message board outside Snoqualmie Middle School, a portion of Meadowbrook Way SE — from Railroad Avenue past the creek bridges — will remain closed until December.
“The project restores two structurally deficient bridge crossings on Meadowbrook Way,” according to the city of Snoqualmie’s 2023-2028 Capital Improvement Plan. “Anticipated work includes reconstructed abutments and wing walls, new guard railing, approaches and pavement.”
The $1.6 million Kimball Creek Bridges Restoration Project will extend the life of the bridges by nearly 20 years, the plan states.
A detour will advise drivers to take Railroad Avenue to Stone Quarry Road to SE North Bend Way to avoid the closure.
Additionally, one lane of 384th Avenue SE will close as crews work to install a new sewer line on a half-mile stretch of the road on the west end of downtown Snoqualmie. Flaggers will control traffic for the one remaining lane. The city expects the project to begin in August and last eight weeks, followed by work to construct a new sidewalk beginning in spring 2025.
The city of Snoqualmie asks residents to expect delays in the area surrounding the projects and “appreciates residents’ understanding and patience while the infrastructure improvements occur.”
A map of the road improvements can be found on the city’s website.
