Gerard Robert “Bob” Rohrbach passed away peacefully on September 13, 2024, at his home in Maple Valley, WA. Born on December 16, 1943, to William and Geraldine Rohrbach, Bob was the second oldest of twelve siblings.
Bob lived a humble life centered around his family, community, and faith. Growing up, he worked alongside his father, mastering the family craft of building and woodworking. A proud family legacy includes their role in constructing the first ski lift and lodge at Ski Acres, now known as Summit Central at Snoqualmie Pass.
After graduating from Seattle Prep, Bob earned his teaching degree from Seattle University. Following college, he served as an Officer in the U.S. Army, where one of his last responsibilities was supporting active-duty military members as they traveled through SeaTac Airport on their way to Japan, Korea, or Guam. He was extremely proud because approximately 50 years later one of his grandchildren now volunteers at the USO in SeaTac Airport supporting those same active-duty military members. Upon leaving the Army, Bob transitioned into a career that honored his family’s legacy of building. He worked as a city manager and building inspector for various cities in the Seattle area.
In 1984 Bob married the love of his life, Mary Ann, and together they built a bustling household with their many children in the home they built together in Fall City, WA and ran The Falls Inn Bed and Breakfast once all the children moved away and lived for many years before building their retirement home on a lake in Maple Valley, WA.
In his free time, Bob was deeply committed and actively involved in his church, Our Lady of Sorrows, and his community. He devoted many years to volunteering with St. Vincent de Paul, where he earned the Least of My Brothern award, King County, in 2017. His strong sense of service and leadership left a lasting impact on all those who knew him.
When Bob was not volunteering at St Vincent’s or serving his church and community, he enjoyed his retirement with rounds of golf at his favorite course Lake Wilderness Golf Course, watching the Mariners, Seahawks, or Sounders (in season, of course), tinkering with many projects around the house, and supporting his grandchildren’s love of sports.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann, and his children: Andrew Rohrbach, Elizabeth Carlson, and Stephan Rohrbach, and stepchildren Mike Campbell, Mark Campbell, Matt Campbell, MaryPat Bull, and Megan Davis, as well as 18 grandchildren.
The family will hold a funeral service to celebrate Bob’s life on Saturday, September 28 at Our Lady of Sorrows, Snoqualmie, WA. Rosary begins at 10:15 am, Ceremony begins at 11:00 am.
