For the first time, the region’s biggest golfing event will help the Valley’s 41-year-old family support organization.

The fourth annual Boeing Classic, which runs Aug. 18 to 24 at the Snoqualmie Ridge TPC, has chosen Encompass as the hometown beneficiary among charities that the tournament will support this year.

“We are tremendously grateful for the hand that the Boeing Classic has extended to us,” said Gregory Malcolm, executive director of Encompass.

For the past three years, the primary beneficiary of the Classic has been The Heart Institute at Virginia Mason Medical Center, which has received a total of $2.3 million from the tourney. This year, North Bend-based Encompass joins The First Tee of Greater Seattle and primary beneficiary Virginia Mason as recipients.

“The Boeing Classic brings tens of thousands of golfers and golfing fans to the Snoqualmie Valley each year,” Malcolm said. “We are overjoyed that these visitors will know that some of the tournament proceeds will be nurturing children, enriching families and building community right here at home.”
