Open letter to
hospital commissioners
Now that you have decided to go ahead with the plans to build a new hospital without voter approval, we hope you will pay off the outstanding three bonds of $25 million dollars that you extended to 2022. Commission Speikers stated [in the June 5 meeting] that the outstanding bonds would all be paid, so we would start with a clean slate on the new loan of $70-plus million dollars (actually, the exact cost to build the new hospital is unknown).
We ask that a resolution be passed and approved that these bonds will be paid for with the money received from the Tribe. Please do so immediately before the money is spent. This can be done by the next board meeting, July 3, 2008.
All residents in North Bend, Snoqualmie, Fall City, Preston, and Carnation, contact these commissioners, let them know how you feel, and plan to attend the next board meeting at the new Snoqualmie Fire Station, 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 3.

Editor’s note: According to hospital CEO Rodger McCollum, the hospital district will have roughly $20 million in LTGO bond debt at the time it receives proceeds from the sale of the old campus. The hospital plan is to pay off LTGO debt and use existing tax revenues to secure the lease of the new hospital through the issuance of tax exempt bonds.

On behalf of the Project Grace Guild of Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center, thank you for supporting our first annual community toy and book drive. With your participation, the event raised more than $1,500 in toys and books for sick children and over $700 in cash donations.
Children’s Hospital, the only regional medical center devoted to pediatric care in the Northwest, has spent a century caring for patients and their families. It is proud to provide excellent and compassionate care to all patients, regardless of their ability to pay. As Children’s enters its second century, the hospital renews its commitment to its mission: to prevent, treat and eliminate pediatric disease.
