Now the largest bike safety event in the Northwest, the Tanner Jeans Memorial Bike Safety Rodeo returns for its sixth year on Saturday, June 12.

The rodeo is 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Cascade View Elementary School and Community Park, 35016 S.E. Ridge St., on Snoqualmie Ridge.

Sponsoring the rodeo, The Tanner Jeans Memorial Foundation formed six years ago in response to the tragic death of 7-year-old Tanner Jeans in a bicycle accident.

Through the annual rodeo, the foundation helps children learn proper bike safety techniques. Snoqualmie police provide riding lessons and helmet inspections. Replacement helmets will be provided to those children who do not have a helmet that passes inspection.

Bike safety inspections will be conducted by members of Dirt Corp andGregg’s Cycles. Free tee-shirts and safety certificates will be provided to all participants.

Food will be provided by Johnsonville Brats. Beverages and snacks will also be provided. Bouncers, face painters, balloon makers and vendors will attend.

Participants can enter to win a new bicycle donated by TREK cycles. Tickets will be sold for $5.

All activities are free of charge, but donations are accepted.
