As Bonneville Seattle Radio’s charity of the month of April, Encompass got a visit from Seattle Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck and team mascot Blitz.

Hasselbeck and Blitz greeted students and made their rounds from classroom to classroom on Monday, April 26, all thanks to Encompass finance coordinator Marty Flood. She convinced her husband Mike Flood, Seattle Seahawks vice president for community relations, to nominate the school for the award.

Encompass is reaping many benefits, including public service announcements on Bonneville’s three radio stations.

“Today is the climax becuase we have volunteers from Bonneville to help spruce up the place,” said Clay Eals, Encompass communications officer.

But their biggest reward was a $2,000 check presented to them by Carl Gardner, vice president and marketing manager for the media company.

Along with the check, Hasselbeck presented the school with a 12th Man flag signed by the Seahawks team. A symbol for the boost and morale that fans and community give the team on game days, Hasselbeck said it’s never enough.

“You’re doing a great job for the future 12th men and women, getting them to be quiet now and saving it for later,” Hasselbeck joked. “This is an opportunity for us to give back and say ‘Thank you’ in the off season and to come support you guys.”
