A new chapter in golf has begun in 2010.

Four local courses have created a new men’s team competitive event, the Snoqualmie Valley Golf Challenge.

An organizational meeting was held in late April at the Riverbend Café, with representatives from Cascade, Mount Si, Snoqualmie Falls, and Twin Rivers Golf Courses agreeing on the format.

All matches are 18 holes, played at 2 p.m. on the second and fourth Thursday of each month. Each team has eight players — one professional and seven amateurs — with competition based on the Ryder Cup.

The Golf Challenge started in May and continues through October. After the final scores are tallied, the inaugural 2010 Snoqualmie Valley Golf Challenge winner will be presented with the Valley Cup to keep in their clubhouse for the year.

After the first two sets of matches, Mount Si leads with 15 points, Twin Rivers has 14.5 points, Snoqualmie Falls has 9.5 points, and Cascade has nine points.

It’s not too late to get in on the action. New members are sought. To learn more, call Cascade Golf Course at (425) 888-GOLF (4653).
