Many involved in definitive Snoqualmie book

The Snoqualmie Valley Historical Museum’s newest publication, just back from the printers in time for Christmas giving, is a fresh printing of what members describe as the first authentic, definitive history of Snoqualmie.

“Our Snoqualmie Community 1855 to 1956” looks at the early ways of business, transportation, medical practice, government, education, churches, organizations, and stories of the Valley. Creating the book required the efforts of about 100 people.

The original typewritten and mimeographed edition had two hand-drawn illustrations. One has been replaced by a photo since it, as well as the text, could not be successfully scanned. Volunteers have digitized the text and many photos have been added, bringing the original 69-page book to a total of 118 pages.

“It is a valuable addition to the Museum’s growing selection of books and a must-read if you live in Snoqualmie or are interested in local history,” said Museum member Gloria McNeely.

The original cover art is by Stewart Swenson.

The price of the book is $25. To order a book, call (425) 888-3200.
