Even an earthquake couldn’t shake the Mount Si’s boys basketball team from making a strong showing at the Surf N’Slam Tournament in San Diego.
Defense looks good for season’s second half
Mount Si’s wrestling team started out strong, but ended up running into difficulty at the Best of the West tournament this week in Pasco. The Wildcats scored 23 points, good for 25h out of 31 teams entered. Entrants in this event came from all over the Pacific Northwest, including teams from Hermiston, Oregon, and the Idaho cities of Lewiston and Nampa.
The Mount Si Wildcat girls basketball team faced its toughest competition thus far this season last Wednesday, December 23, in the Lakeside Lions. The Metro League’s Lions came in as one of the top teams in 3A, and they perennially are among the best teams in the state every year.
But the Wildcats themselves were coming in off their best performance of the year thus far, a 47-39 win over a feisty Port Angeles team December 19. Mount Si knew they would be in for a big challenge, but the Wildcats were ready. When all was said and done, Mount Si had made waves.
The Mount Si gymnastics team headed into the winter break on a solid note with another win.

Mount Si’s new girls basketball coach has been looking for her first win as a high school coach, and it looked like last Friday, December 11, would be the night, considering the Wildcats were playing the lowly Sammamish Totems. And behind balanced scoring, coach Megan Botulinski picked up that historic first victory.
Mount Si’s boys basketball team opened the Kingco schedule Friday, December 11, with a statement win backed up by their key weapons and a strong effort from a senior more known for his football skills.
Mount Si’s wrestling team was looking to open its home schedule last Thursday, December 10, on a solid note, but despite some excellent performances, the Wildcats fell to a good Interlake Saints squad.
