Local football fans know that the Mount Si varsity football team has enjoyed success this season. What many of those fans may not know, however, is that the Wildcat football program’s future is very bright, indeed, as evidenced by the success of one of their junior football squads this season.
Despite a winless season, the Mount Si High School boys tennis team had solid representation at the recent Kingco Tournament.
The Mount Si girls’ volleyball team will make a return appearance at the state 3A volleyball tournament this week in the Tri-Cities, hoping to create more memories like they did with their eighth-place finish in 2007.
The Mount Si Wildcat girls soccer season ended in heartbreaking fashion at Highline Stadium in Burien, as the team fell to Kennedy 2-1 on Saturday, Nov. 15.
The Mount Si Wildcats football team, like all 15 other teams in the state 3A football playoffs, had dreams of winning it all.

The Mount Si volleyball team fared well at last week’s Kingco 3A tournament at Sammamish High School. The Wildcats grabbed a high seed, but now have to get past the first round at districts in order to have a chance to go to state.
Mount Si’s cross country teams had a difficult SeaKing District meet last Thursday, Oct. 30, in Seattle. Only one Wildcat runner, top Wildcat girls’ competitor Alex Rudd, made it to state, as Mount Si faced the best in both the Metro and Kingco leagues.
The Bellevue volleyball team gave the Mount Si Wildcats a nice gift last Monday night. Their five-game Oct. 27 win over Juanita put the Wildcats in the position of clinching an outright berth to the SeaKing District tournament last Wednesday, Oct. 29, with a win over the Wolverines. Mount Si said “thank you, very much” with a 25-20, 25-5, 25-19 sweep of Bellevue, locking up second place in Kingco 3A with a 9-3 league mark, 11-3 overall, not counting tournament action.
With the Kingco title locked up, the Mount Si girls’ soccer team played one last regular season game on Tuesday night, Oct. 28.
There was something for everyone on Friday evening, Oct. 31, as Mount Si’s football team fell, 25-20, on the road at Liberty.
Turnovers, big plays, costly penalties and missed opportunities were all in abundance as the two clubs battled for home field advantage in the opening round of the state playoffs. After all the fun, though, Mount Si this week finds the road to a state title a bit more difficult following Friday’s dramatic finish.
Mount Si’s girls’ cross country team qualified for the SeaKing District meet last Thursday, Oct. 23, by finishing strong in the Kingco conference meet at Lake Sammamish State Park in Issaquah.
Last week’s victories over Interlake and Juanita were key for the Wildcats volleyball team as they prepared for the playoffs.
