On Jan. 9, Dewberry Engineers Inc. applied for a building permit with the city of North Bend to install a Tesla charging station in the North Bend Premium Outlets parking lot.
In just a few weeks, those 24 V4 Tesla Superchargers will be open and fully operational for all electric vehicle drivers to use, according to a statement from the mall.
“North Bend Premium Outlets is located just outside one of the biggest tech hubs in the U.S.,” the statement reads. “With more shoppers driving electric vehicles and Washington aiming to have only electric cars sold by 2035, it makes sense that we establish charging stations for shopper accessibility.”
V4 Tesla Superchargers can add up to 200 miles of range to a vehicle in 15 minutes, according to the company website. They are equipped with a credit card reader, a longer charging cable and an adapter allowing all electric vehicles, regardless of brand, to charge.
Theresa Ramsdell, the president of Tesla Owners Washington (TOW), is excited to see more chargers come to the area. She said 75% of her club members rely on public chargers.
TOW, a partner of the worldwide Tesla Owners Club Program, works to create a community of Tesla fans by putting on events for members and serving as a resource for new owners. Ramsdell often hosts scenic drives and meet-ups at new charging stations in the Puget Sound region.
“It’s so nice to see more chargers out there,” she said. “Once those chargers are up and running, I’ll do a ‘charger chat’ with my group.”
According to the U.S. Department of Energy, North Bend and Snoqualmie currently have 28 electric vehicle chargers. The addition of the V4 chargers at the outlet mall will raise that number to 52.
