Hauglie earns champion award

Fall City resident Kevin Hauglie has qualified as a “Championship” agent by Farmers Insurance for outstanding overall performance.

Hauglie is among Farmers’ best agents for achieving high sales volume for auto, home, life and business policies, maintaining high client retention and profitability, according to Jerry Carnahan, Farmers’ executive vice president for field operations.

As part of Farmers’ 80th anniversary in business, Hauglie was invited to attend a Championship conference in Palm Springs earlier this month. He joined 251 agents and 17 district managers honored at the event.

New look for Rachel’s Salon

Rachel’s Hair Salon in North Bend has changed its look.

The salon recently added a wash house for a more relaxing shampoo experience. Rachel’s also added an interactive tool bar, where clients can try out flat or curling irons before they buy.

New employee Jen is the latest addition to the team, offering Paul Mitchell experience. Rachel’s Hair Salon is a Paul Mitchel Signature Salon.

Karate instructor creates album

North Bend martial arts instructor Jim Curtis is putting out a patriotic poetry album.

Curtis was given authorization by the United States Marine Corps Band to use their version of the Marine Corps Hymn.

The poetry CDs cost $29. Ten dollars from each sale go to the North American Self-Defense Association’s Combat Veterans Assistance Fund to help Iraq and Afghanistan War Veterans who are in need of financial assistance.

Shaw graduates basic training

Army Pvt. David P. Shaw has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.

During nine weeks of training, Shaw studied the Army mission and received instruction and training exercises in drill and ceremonies, Army history, core values and traditions, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, rifle marksmanship, weapons use, map reading and land navigation, foot marches, armed and unarmed combat, and field maneuvers and tactics.

He is the son of Tracy Keene of 331st Ave. S.E., Fall City.

Shaw is a 1999 graduate of Mount Si High School.

Registration begins for Summer Winds youth day camp

Summer Winds Day Camp is now registering for its ninth season.

Located on a small farm in Snoqualmie, Summer Winds offers youth ages 4 to 11 a nurturing environment to explore the natural world, farm life, and their creativity, as well as just spend time outside getting dirty and being children.

Activities include singing, archery, clay, toy boat building, egg collecting, fort building, root beer and herbal salve making, storytelling, painting, and adventures in the forest.
