The Eastside Chapter of the Northwest Biodiesel Network will discuss biodiesel quality at its next meeting, 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12 at the North Bend Railroad Depot.
The general public is invited to learn about the basics of quality biodiesel production, commercially produced or brewed at home, and state programs to ensure quality commercial biodiesel. Speakers are Steve Verhey of Central Washington Biodiesel, Lyle Rudensey of BioLyle’s Biodiesel Workshop, and Rebecca McAferty, Biofuels Standards Coordinator of the Washington State Department of Agriculture. Attendance is free.
The group meets on the second Wednesday of each month at the depot, located at 205 McClellan St.
Access planned for paper archives
The entire historic archive of the Snoqualmie Valley Record is planned to become freely available online.
Google recently unveiled a project with the aim of bringing historical newspaper content to the Web. Sound Publishing, the Valley Record’s parent company, is among the many companies participating in the project, which will allow users to view digitally scanned versions of historical newspapers.
“We’re very excited to bring the entire history of the Record to the web,” said Sound Publishing President Manfred Tempelmayr. “Projects of this scale are extremely time and resource intensive and we’re thrilled to partner with Google to make this available to our readers.”
The “initiative,” as it was described on The Official Google Blog, will appear as a function within Google’s News Archive feature.
No date has been announced for when the Record’s archives will appear.
