Genie Industries is building a 190,000-square-foot parts manufacturing plant and warehouse near Truck Town in North Bend.
The new plant, which includes two buildings at 47020 S.E. 144th Street, will employ as many as 250 people, most likely in one shift, Dave Schille, Genie’s director for parts and warranties told the Valley Record.
Some operations, including parts, warranty, and logistics, will move to North Bend from Genie’s existing Redmond facility. The new factory will consolidate and ship Genie units that were finished in Redmond.
“Our parts department has really expanded — we are out of space,” Schille said. “With all of the growth and congestion in Redmond, it is necessary to move our logistics center to safely ship our units.”
“We are extremely excited about this move,” Schille added. “It is both a gain of space and efficiencies, plus it allows us to combine two teams into one.”
The company is still in the permitting process for the site, but construction crews have already begun moving dirt.
The logistics portion of the plant is set to open as early as first quarter of 2009, while the parts area would open in the second quarter.
Genie Industries is owned by parent company Terex Corporation, a diversified global manufacturer with 2007 net sales of approximately $9.1 billion. Terex manufactures a broad range of equipment for various industries, including construction, quarrying, mining, shipping, transportation, refining, and utilities.
