Too bad for Snoqualmie liquor aficionados: North Bend gets its liquor store back on Friday, Nov. 14.

The Washington State Liquor Control Board opens a new state liquor store that day at new digs at at 320 S.W. Mount Si Blvd, Suite 109.

That means that the Snoqualmie location, at 8565 S.E. River St. next to the city post office, closes this Saturday, Nov. 8.

Store manager Deanna Riley said shelves are being emptied out as the store prepares to close this week.

Customers from North Bend are happy to have their store back, while customers in Snoqualmie are sad to see the temporary shop shut its doors and move farther away.

Still, the new store should be a boon for the operation, with some 2,000 more square feet of space to serve customers including the new Snoqualmie Casino, which ordered some 800 cases of beverages for its opening week and is expected to buy hundreds of cases a week at a tribal discount from the store.

The Snoqualmie store, a former bank building, has been home to the liquor store since April. The original North Bend liquor store moved out of its location near the North Bend QFC after concerns were raised about an unusual odor at the retail building it was housed in.

Construction of the new, 5,546-square-foot North Bend store was completed in mid-October. The store is part of Phase II of the Mountain Valley Center, and state officials say the new site is convenient for both North Bend residents and customers traveling over the mountains.
