A comfortable neighborhood restaurant was what Snoqualmie Ridge residents Josh and Tawnie Mabel had in mind when they opened Mabel’s on the Ridge.
When Mike’s Cascade Grill closed last year, the Mabels hoped someone would reopen the space, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.
“One day, we looked at each other and said ‘We should give this a shot, I think we can do this,’” Josh Mabel said.
With more than a decade of previous restaurant experience, Josh and Tawnie did their homework and started to make their vision a reality.
Opening in March, Mabel’s has become a restaurant that can serve families with children as well as couples who are looking for a relaxed meal.
Putting a local Pacific Northwest twist on favorites such as Dungeness crab Benedict, the Mabels thought it only appropriate to offer a seasonal menu, preparing their dishes with fresh and local ingredients.
While the kitchen chef picks fresh seafood and produce, the Mabels hope to team up with Fall City, Carnation and other local farms for food and resources.
“We’re in the process of rewriting our menu for spring and we need to be seasonal,” Josh said. “Whether it’s fresh halibut or heirloom tomatoes coming from the Valley, whatever is up on the forefront, we want to make sure to feature that,” Josh said.
Josh believes that the business is rooted in the feeling customers get of coming back home.
“We wanted to put something together that would be embraced by the community,” Josh said.
A grand opening is Saturday, May 15. Mabel’s will host the Snoqualmie Valley Chamber of Commerce and Mayor Matt Larson, feature giveaways and drawings, and will roll out their new spring menu.
“It will be a blast out to the Valley that there is another restaurant that’s worth coming out and going to,” Josh said.
Mabels on the Ridge is located at 7727 Center Blvd. S.E., Snoqualmie.
