Snoqualmie Valley Realtor Debbie Buffelen is using the latest cell phone technology to make the task of shopping for a home an easier project.
Buffelen, a broker at Better Properties, recently launched the new technology. Her office uses a mobile device program created by the New Jersey-based Smarter Agent software company, allowing potential homebuyers to search all property listings from their back pocket.
“Everyone who’s seen it is excited about it,” Buffelen said. “Everybody in this area is so techy that they’re really into instant gratification.”
The program works with about 95 percent of cell phones with Web browser access. Shoppers can search by neighborhood and find homes by price, number of bedrooms, zip code and city. GPS technology pinpoints interested homebuyers and directs them to addresses and information on listings in their area, including sale price, square footage, tax information, beds/baths, interior and exterior features, pictures and more.
Designed to help the casual home shopper who is not ready for an agent quite yet, the program puts less pressure on possible home buyers.
“If you want to see the property you hit the tab, ‘Call to See,’” Buffelen said. “That calls directly to my cell. That will send me information on the property you’re interested in and if it’s not mine, I contact the agencies it belongs to.”
Once contacted, agents schedule a tour of the properties of interest at the consumer’s convenience.

North Bend John L. Scott real estate agent Noel Blazevich uses a similar technology that is specific to her company.
“If you have a Web-enabled phone, it gives your mobile search options,” Blazevich said.
A feature on John L. Scott’s Web site enables homebuyers to search by address and even agent listing.
Besides being an additional marketing tool, cell phone technology is environmentally friendly.
“You’re saving trees by not printing out more flyers,” Blazevich said.
