SNOQUALMIE – Joe Eddings has always had a love for cars.

After taking their cars through his new car wash, he is hoping everyone will love their cars as well.

“Cars are the second biggest investment people make next to their homes,” he said. “They want to take care of them.”

Eddings opened Twin Star Car Wash in Snoqualmie last month after planning it for more than a decade. He had always wanted to invest in the community in which he was raised. When he ran a car detail business in Olympia, Eddings became friends with some people in the car wash business. Since Snoqualmie didn’t have one, he thought the city would be a good place for a car wash, and committed to building one.

He looked at properties in the city throughout the 1990s, but hesitated on buying anything because he didn’t think there were enough people in Snoqualmie yet to support a car wash. When one property he had always had an eye on at the intersection of Railroad Avenue and Southeast 90th Street became available, he bought it. The property’s pie-shaped dimensions were a little awkward to work with, but Eddings got a design he liked and named it Twin Star Car Wash after his twin daughters, Tara and Chelsie (youngest daughter Hailey was added into the design of the car wash sign as a comet).

In 2000, Eddings started submitting his plans to the city, but the approval took a lot longer than he anticipated. He had a lot of help from his family and from the community though, and the permits were eventually approved. The car wash opened on July 19 and Eddings is proud that just about everything on hand is the latest and greatest.
