Weekend shuttle service launched in Snoqualmie Valley

Snoqualmie Valley Transportation’s Valley Shuttle will run from 6 a.m. to 9:15 p.m. with buses every 90 minutes.

After 21 years of providing fixed-route bus services from North Bend to Duvall, Snoqualmie Valley Transportation (SVT) announced it would start operating on weekends starting Aug. 17.

“Expanding weekend bus service is a critical step in enhancing accessibility and promoting sustainable tourism in our Valley,” said Kelly Coughlin, CEO of the SnoValley Chamber of Commerce. “This service will not only support local businesses, but also ensure that visitors and residents alike can enjoy our beautiful region while contributing to a greener and more eco-friendly community.”

The weekend service will run from 6 a.m. to 9:15 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, with buses arriving every 90 minutes, according to the city of North Bend.

The Valley Shuttle, which transports riders between North Bend and Duvall, is funded by King County Metro, the Snoqualmie Tribe, the Washington Department of Transportation, and rider donations. It also receives funding from Washington’s Climate Commitment Act.

“King County Metro is responsible for funding this particular part of the new weekend service and we are so grateful that they are responding to this need,” said SVT Director Amy Biggs. “People have weekend jobs they need to reach, or they ride our little SVT buses to work during the week, but need weekend service for grocery shopping and all their errands. Transportation is a basic need for everyone, and not just on weekdays.”

SVT provided nearly 12,000 rides to residents in 2023 alone, according to the agency. Weekend service is expected to increase ridership significantly.

Shuttle fares are just a $1 suggested donation per ride. Each bus is equipped with wheelchair lifts and bike racks, and ages 18 and under ride for free.
