The sale of the Valley Hospital to Overlake Hospital has the potential to lower our property taxes while maintaining quality health care in the Valley, a rare opportunity these days to be sure.
The recent article in the Snoqualmie Valley Record described the option for our King County Hospital District 4 to use the funds from the sale of the hospital to pay off its debt and dissolve itself.
Once these debts are paid and the hospital district is dissolved, property taxes will be reduced for all of us. The Hospital District CEO, Rodger McCollum, describes the difficulties attempting to operate such a small hospital district in the changing health care environment.
The sale of the hospital to Overlake appears to be a win-win opportunity: We will have quality health care locally here in the Valley, and our property taxes will be reduced.
