Roots run deep for Snoqualmie Valley family, friends

I once heard the expression “Standing on the shoulders of giants.” I now understand what that means.

The volunteering members of the Snoqualmie Valley Alliance Church at Spring Glen were a great comfort to family and friends of Mike Busby before and during his funeral service on March 13.

The church was called on by the Busby family to facilitate Mike Busby’s celebration of life. The pastor and 37 members are currently in Israel, but the remaining members came through with an immeasurable amount of love and graciousness. I appreciate the ton of work the church and A.A. volunteers did to support me during the potluck following the service. Your effort gave Mike’s family and friends space to grieve. I will be visiting your Sunday services soon.

I also want to thank the Eagles of Snoqualmie for the massive amount of ice they provided for the food and drinks following the service for Mike. Officers were willing to open the door several hours earlier than necessary to give me access to the kitchen, truly a blessing. I am glad to be a member of this club. To all that attended the service, what a turn out! What a tribute! You brought a great deal of strength to the Busby family and each other in this agonizing time of adjusting to a loss.

Yes, the Valley has changed in the last 50 years. However, in my opinion, the caliber of the people attending Mike’s service showed that roots run deep, strong and true. I am proud to be affiliated with all of you.
