Soggy but fun: Fall City Days ‘Thank You’

What a soggy start and finish for the 40th annual FC Days celebration. But the rain didn’t stop the festivities throughout the day. The attendance was, of course, lessened by the weather, but the fun and enthusiasm were not. Kirk and Sean with Run Snoqualmie did an awesome job of organizing more than 750 runners and braving the weather. Libby and Laurie pulled off another great parade even under rainy conditions and delays.

Our kids’ and pets’ parade was successful, thanks to Anji (and Pet Pros for the doggie treats). Nancy and her “pit” crew did a fine job on the watermelon contest and parade performance (Family Market donated the watermelons and their mascots).

Laurie, Jane, Amy and their helpers ran an outstanding duck race on the Snoqualmie River. Good job on getting community support for the parade entry and the ticket sales.

Melody and her family of volunteers managed our merchandise and information booth all day. The parade stage trailer was loaned to us by Gene Stevens and Gordon Construction donates their dumpster for the event, so our awesome BSA Troop 425 can clean up. Thanks to Dan and PJ for opening up FCES gymnasium for electrical and water needs. El Caporal lets my food vendors use their facilities every year and Lyle at the Raging River Saloon feeds Don Hastings, his deputies and our staging crew. Our road crew again allowed for a smooth transition.

As usual, Cheri was instrumental in checking the vendors in, even while they were trying to set up in the rain. And thanks to Jennifer with Fall City Arts for providing fun performance artists along with the awaited unveiling of the new mural. Lee kept us together either by radio or his years of experience with our street fair. Even though the weather was the worst ever, it was still a great way to spend a gloomy day among friends and neighbors.

Until next year,
