Our Relay for Life event was this past Saturday. We had so much fun! We appreciate the support we have received in our efforts to find a cure so very much!
With your support, our family has raised $4,220.15! The boys are getting closer to their goals of $1,000. We can continue to collect donations through August 31. The mailing address for donations is on the main page of our website, www.snovalleyrelay.org.
The thought behind Relay is that cancer never sleeps, so why should we? I have to tell you, as a survivor, I am always touched in the wee hours of the morning, seeing everyone on the track.
This year, I was touched even more by Chris, our Relay marathon runner! Chris ran an incredible 73.5 miles, but for me she did so much more.
As I watched Chris run throughout Relay, saw her husband check in on her at times and made sure she had the necessities to keep going and heard the cheers she received along the way, it reminded me of the journey we go on when battling cancer.
Battling cancer feels like a marathon to me. Going through weekly chemotherapy treatments for a year, not once but twice, doubting, at times, that it will ever end. All along the way, I had Vernie, Eli, Sammy and Joey by my side. I was blessed with prayers and encouragement by so many… so many of you! I kept going and eventually made it to the finish line… cancer free!
The money we raise at Relay is so important for cancer research, resources and education. The awareness we bring to the fight against cancer is priceless!
Thank you for your support, love and prayers along our journey in the fight against cancer! Here are the boy’s fund raising totals as of today:
• Eli has raised $679.95. To help Eli reach his goal, visit www.main.acsevents.org/goto/eli
