Youth Eastside Services (YES) will host a free educational event focused on preventing teen suicide, titled “13 Reasons Why to Have a Conversation With Your Child”.
Scheduled for tonight at 6 p.m., this event will facilitate a conversation around the second season of Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why and offer parents resources to engage with their child on the topics of suicide, depression, and anxiety.
The event will be hosted at the YES Bellevue Offices on 999 164th Ave. NE, Bellevue. YES requests that interested attendees RSVP at https://conta.cc/2s8gnP0.
The following panelists will lead the event:
- Michelle Brode, LASW CDPT, Youth Eastside Service’s Behavioral Health Support specialist and LWSD Suicide Risk Assessment provider.
- Megan Kennedy, MA, LMHC, University of Washington’s manager for Strategic Initiatives for Student Wellness and Suicide Prevention coordinator.
- Matt Gillingham Lake Washington School District’s director of Student Services
- Renee Jones and Cailyn Griffith, Teen Link Crisis Clinic’s Youth Services manager and Outreach Educational specialist.
