Nothing beats a fresh Christmas tree. No unseen bare
spots from a tree selected in a crowded lot, no tree already dried out
because it was cut weeks earlier.
You can’t get any fresher than picking your own living
tree. And the Snoqualmie Valley is just the place to find that
perfect tree.
Not only is there a variety of types and sizes of trees to
choose from among the Valley’s Christmas tree farms, but
enough amenities to create your own special experience. The farms
offer a variety of experiences, from shopping for handmade
gifts, visiting Santa Claus, taking a hay ride or sipping warm cider.
Your options include:
Carnation Tree Farm, 31523 N.E. 40th,
Carnation, (425) 333-4510. From downtown Carnation, drive south
on Highway 203. The farm is across the highway from Tolt
Middle School.
Once again, the owners are offering some 25-foot tall
Noble firs, in addition to the normal supply of Douglas, Grand,
Fraser and Noble firs, Norway spruce and pines on the 20-acre farm.
The children should love the weekend fun: visits from
Santa Claus, pony rides, a hay jump, refreshments and bake
sales. Don’t miss the gift shop in the historic barn. Open 9 a.m.
until 4:30 p.m. daily from the day after Thanksgiving to the
Sunday before Christmas.
Christmas Creek Tree Farm, on 468th Ave. S.E.,
North Bend, (425) 888-2099. From Interstate 90, take Exit 34 and
drive south. The farm is on your right.
New this year is the home decorating center in the
retail shop, featuring wreathes (don’t miss the small wreathes for
the front of your car), garlands, bows, holly and
centerpieces. The retail shop has beautiful gifts and ornaments. On
weekends, look for the hay rides and visits from Santa Claus, and
special musical entertainment some Saturdays. Cookies from
George’s Bakery will be sold. Complementary candy canes, cider,
coffee and cocoa are offered.
The 20-acre farm has been open since 1982, making it
one of the first places in the Valley to offer you-cut Christmas
trees. Customers can cut their own tree or have it cut for them. The
farm offers Douglas, Grand, Noble and Fraser fir, and larger (up
to 14-foot tall) pre-cut trees. People can select trees and cut
them later. The farm will be open from 9 a.m. until dusk from Nov.
26 to Dec. 19.
Crown Tree Farm, on 424th Ave. S.E., North Bend,
(425) 888-1506. From the stoplight in North Bend, drive about one
mile southeast. Veer right on the “wye” and turn right at
424th (Maloney Grove Road).
The 15-acre tree farm will open early for picking a tree
_ select your tree and come back later to cut it. Operators
will transport your tree from the field back to your car, plus offer
assistance in cutting and/or selecting a tree. This year’s
selection includes Noble, Grand, Turkish and Red Shasta firs, at sizes
from 5 to 14 feet tall. Always popular is the warm inside fire, plus
free cookies, candy canes, hot cider and coffee. The gift shop has
a large selection of ornaments, bulbs and lights, plus other
popular items.
The farm will be open Nov. 13-14 and Nov. 20-21 for
pre-selection. Regular daily hours of 8:30 a.m. to dusk begin Nov.
26 and continue until Dec. 19, or until this year’s crop is
gone.
Keith and Scott’s Christmas Tree Farm, on Mount
Si Road and Thrasher Road, North Bend, (425) 888-1170.
Both farms are about one mile east of the North Bend traffic light.
One location is behind the North Bend Ranger Station on
Thrasher Road and the other is on Mount Si Road, just off North
Bend Way.
The farm is on two locations near the Middle Fork of
the Snoqualmie River on land that has been farmed more than
100 years. The farms cover about nine acres and have been in
business 18 years. It features Noble and Grand firs, but also has
Douglas, Fraser and Turkish firs.
Warm yourself around the bonfire and with hot cider,
plus candy and treats for the children. Open 9 a.m. to dark each
weekend from Thanksgiving to Christmas.
Mountain Creek Tree Farm, 6821 440th Ave.
S.E., Snoqualmie, (425) 888-1770. From either North Bend
or Snoqualmie, follow the North Fork Road past
Normanbrook Farm and Moon Valley Road.
The 12-acre farm at the foot of Mount Si is known for its
large trees and unique gift shop. The farm offers Noble, Fraser,
Douglas, Grand and Turkish firs, plus Colorado Blue spruce, up to
20 feet tall. The gift shop has many different handmade items,
including hand-painted tree skirts. Free cider, coffee and
candy canes.
The farm and gift shop open Nov. 1 for shoppers and
pre-tagging. Open 9 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. daily from Nov. 1
until Christmas.
