Some of the earliest donations to the Snoqualmie Valley Historical Museum will get the “Antiques Roadshow” treatment at the Snoqualmie Valley Historical Society’s annual meeting, 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 14, at the Mount Si Senior Center, 411 Main Ave. S., North Bend.

This meeting celebrates the museum’s 50th year as a nonprofit. Guests who have been involved during the museum’s development are invited to attend.

During the “Antique Road Show and Tell,” museum board members will discuss favorite artifacts from the collection. We encourage everyone to bring along a favorite Valley artifact to share, too. The museum will be open following the meeting.

Until 1960, the growing collection of artifacts was housed in the North Bend High School building. When that room was needed for class space, quick action was required and interested citizens sprang into action.

Actual construction began June 20, and according to the minutes and a clipping from the Snoqualmie Valley Record, the first board meeting in the Society’s new home, took place on Monday evening, July 25, 1960.

Since the beginning, subsequent boards have worked hard to ensure all of the historic material in the museum’s care is properly accounted for and stored.

The current Board of Directors of the Snoqualmie Valley Historical Society are: Gardiner Vinnedge, president; Dick Kirby, vice president; Vicki Bettes, treasurer; David Battey, recording secretary; Kris Kirby, corresponding secretary; and Harley Brumbaugh, Jan Gifford, Pat Kelley, Katherine Kerr, Gloria McNeely, Tina Mix and Fay Rene.
