Simply get on your bike and ride to take part in the Snoqualmie Valley Hospital Tour de Peaks, the Snoqualmie Valley’s annual cycling event.

This year marks the ride’s 22nd anniversary. Once again, it is held in conjunction with the Festival at Mount Si. Riders of every size, speed and skill level can take part in the ride on Sunday, Aug. 15.

Originally created to commemorate the city of Snoqualmie’s Centennial, the ride continues to provide fun for the whole family.

“The rides are spectacular and if it’s a nice day, people will absolutely love it,” said Paul Tredway, a Tour organizer, who encourages riders to choose a route that meets their experience level.

There are five riding options, the longest being 70 miles and the shortest being the family route, which is six miles. Children can participate in any ride that their parents think they can handle.

“We’ve had kids as young as 10 on the long route to Carnation and they do fine,” Tredway said.

The family ride winds up at Si View Park, where participants can then try games and activities at the festival’s kids area.

Regardless of the route or a rider’s experience level, Tredway emphasized: “This is not a race. This is a ride.”

Courses meander over hill and dale, past beautiful Valley vistas.

“I’ve been doing this now for five years. It’s spectacular scenery,” Treadway said. “You get an incredible appreciation for the beauty of the Snoqualmie Valley.

The start and finish lines will be at Si View Park, 400 S.E. Orchard Dr., North Bend. Check-in starts at 7 a.m.

A first aid tent will be on hand, volunteers will be monitoring the route in case of break downs and there will be an area where people can get minor repairs made to their bikes, Tredway added.

The tour also benefits from a Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast for riders from 7 to 11 a.m. at the Mount Si Senior Center. The community is invited to breakfast. There will be a Rotary Club Beer Garden at the finish line, opening about noon. Cyclists can also feast at the Festival at Mount Si’s food vendor area.

Riders have a chance to win one of two bicycles donated to Tour de Peaks by Rattlesnake Lake Cycles, one for adults, one for children, plus other prizes.
