“The Curious Savage,” a warm-hearted, kooky play by John Patrick, opens Friday, May 14, at Valley Center Stage in North Bend.

Savage combines the style of “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” with the sensibilities of Frank Capra. In the play, Mrs. Savage has been left two hundred million dollars by her husband, but her grown-up stepchildren feel she is spending it foolishly. They decide to commit her to a ‘sanatorium’ hoping to “bring her to her senses.”

The show is directed by Danielle Villegas, in her directorial debut at Valley Center Stage.

Shows are Fridays and Saturdays at Center Stage through May 29. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $12.50 for adults, $10 for students and seniors.

Valley Center Stage is located at 119 North Bend Way. North Bend, on the second floor above SingleTrack Cycles.
