North Bend Way meets Broadway when the newly formed Cascade Dance Academy Company presents three showstoppers from their recent spring recital, 4 p.m. Saturday, July 17, on the Block Party stage.

The small group of girls, ages 10 to 15, perform under the direction of Stacee Raber Nault.

Their trio of selections, including a routines from “Chicago,” “Hair” and Fosse’s “Dancin’ Man,” are polished and look awesome, Cascade Dance Academy owner Katie Higuchi said.

Raber Nault is a musical theater and Broadway veteran who teaches at the academy as well as at Cornish College of the Arts.

Performers hail from throughout the Valley.

“They work so hard all year long,” Higuchi said. “Many of them spend five days a week dancing with us, honing their skills. They’re getting so good, we wanted to give them other opportunities to perform.”

In addition to the Block Party, the company will perform at the Snoqualmie Kids Showcase, Aug. 1, and Snoqualmie Railroad Days, Aug. 21 and 22.

“We can expect to see these kids on Valley stages for years to come,” Higuchi said. Building vocal, dance and acting skills, “they’re triple threats in training.”

Cascade Dance Academy is located in Snoqualmie. Learn more at www.cascadedance.com.
