Flying dogs, ugly mutts, and howling hounds will fill the afternoon with fun at the “Dog Days of Summer” in Snoqualmie’s Three Forks Off-leash Dog Park.

This free event is 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 18. Festivities will feature training and demonstrations by Washington Owners of Flying Disc Dogs. The group will offer free training for citizens and canine companions for disc throwing and catching, as well as freestyle demonstrations.

The Dog Savant will demonstrate the skills of dogs that can jump through hoops, leap over hurdles, and zig zag through poles. The Dog Savant provides obedience and agility training.

In addition to several “for-fun-only” competitions will entertain dogs and their families, including:

• Dog/Owner Look-Alike: Does your dog look like you or vice versa? If you think you look like kin to your canine, this is for you!

• Ugliest Dog: Well, maybe “ugly” is too harsh. How about a face that only a family like yours could love?

• Best Howl or Bark: Does your dog have a howl that’s part coyote or can it “sing” a song?

• Dashing Duos: A dress-up contest for your child and his or her best friend. “Toddlers and Tiaras,” it’s not. But maybe “Terriers and Tutus” or “Tuxes and Tails?”

The Three Forks Off-leash Dog Park is located at 39912 SE Park Street, across from Centennial Fields Park. Vehicle parking is available both on-site and in the Centennial Fields parking lot.
