Life Enrichment Options’ annual challenge race event brought huge smiles to more than 30 children on Snoqualmie Ridge on Saturday, May 20.
The challenge race provides the soap box derby experience to children with mental and physical disabilities. Each car pairs children with a driver, age 10 or older, to ride in the custom made cars.
In cooperation with Life Enrichment and Snoqualmie Valley Rotary, children with developmental or physical disabilities were invited to participate in a series of downhill cart races. The teams of children raced against each other with gravity-propelled vehicles on a hay-bale-lined downhill course.
Following the races, participants were treated to drinks and pizza.
This free event was made possible by many donations and with the help of the local high school, police and fire departments and volunteers.
