The Festival at Mount Si, planned for this weekend in North Bend, will feature the first community flower show in decades.

Local gardeners of all ages are asked to bring their cut flowers and produce to the Si View Community Center between noon and 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, for the Festival Flower Show.

Judging for prizes and ribbons is Sunday, Aug. 9. Awards will be presented at noon Sunday. There is no cost to participate.

“Gardeners love to show other people what it is they do,” said Sallie Burhans, flower show organizer and festival committee member. The show “is a wonderful way to get the community to participate in a local festival.”

A flower show can draw in gardeners of all ages and backgrounds — from the youngster who has grown his very first radish or squash, to the man with a prize shrub or the woman who knows how to grow the best rose.

The Nursery at Mount Si is providing prizes and judges for the show.

The nursery will be closed on Saturday for the event.
