Four Snoqualmie Valley churches walk to fight hunger

Four local churches are coming together to help hungry people in the Valley and far beyond, through the 12th annual Crop Hunger Walk. The event is part of a network of church world service projects, with walks being held across the country. Three fourths of the funds raised by sponsored walkers and donations goes to overseas hunger projects. The other fourth goes to the Mount Si Helping Hand food bank. Over the last seven years, the walk raised more than $8,000 for the food bank.

The four participating churches include Snoqualmie United Methodist, St. Clare’s Episcopal, Our Lady of Sorrows and Mount Si Lutheran.

The walk is 12:15 p.m. Sunday, May 15, starting at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church.

The distance is three miles, or one golden mile option through downtown Snoqualmie.

This year, youth groups from the four churches are having a car wash and bake sale to help the cause, to be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 7, behind Les Schwab Tire Center in North Bend.

The public is invited to join the walk, donate and support the sale. For more information, contact one of the participating churches or call Kathy at (425) 831-5195.
