Freestone Capital Management, a wealth management firm, recently announced the launch of its inaugural Freestone Future Leaders Scholarship for students pursing higher education.
With the new program, the firm is committed to providing $100,000 in financial support for 20 students over four years, beginning with five $5,000 tuition reimbursement scholarships for students attending college this fall.
“Freestone is committed to investing in the next generation of leaders and we’re looking forward to meeting students across the region who are pushing boundaries to harness their passions to become problem solvers, innovators and leaders within their communities and beyond,” said Gary Furukawa, founder of Freestone Capital Management in a press release.
The organization is currently accepting scholarship applications for the 2018-19 academic year from graduating high school seniors, or undergraduate college students currently enrolled in an accredited two-year or four-year technical college or university. The deadline to apply is May 23.
Strong candidates will be those who demonstrate a commitment to improving their communities, are involved in meaningful extracurricular activities, and who possess an entrepreneurial spirit. To determine the finalists, Freestone’s selection committee will evaluate applications for the strength of their personal narratives, extracurricular interests, community involvement, entrepreneurship and financial need.
“We hope our scholarship program helps to provide greater access to higher education, enabling more students to achieve their goals and make an impact on their communities,” said Erik Morgan, a senior partner at Freestone Capital Management in a press release. “We believe education provides the tools to help students hone their passions and ambitions, and we’re eager to be among their champions.”
