Some of the youngest participants helped lead learning at the geoteaming treasure hunt on Saturday, July 20, part of the sixth annual Greenway Days at Rattlesnake Lake.

Teams of families used handheld global positioning system, or GPS, units to navigate during the Geoteaming competition. They sought small caches of items hidden near the lake, using clues, a map and GPS technology.

While some adults struggled, younger children quickly mastered the gadgets.

Families had about 20 stations to explore. Caches were often tricky to find, hidden under rocks or by drains.

Teams often found the locations faster than they uncovered well-hidden caches.

Families had fun at the event, encouraging each other to find the next treasure.
