Weekend temperatures soared into the upper 90s in North Bend, but visitors to the Festival at Mount Si didn’t let the heat slow them down.
During the grand parade, held Saturday, Aug. 14, North Bend Way was lined up with parade viewers, unicyclists, belly dancers, horses, cheerleaders, bands, Seafair Pirates and spectators.
A spray of cool water from Eastside Fire and Rescue’s fire truck kept everyone cool in the sweltering sun, and float riders passed out water.
Following the parade, festival-goers made their way to Si View Park, where vendors, kiddie rides, inflatable toys, medieval demos, good eats and outdoor concerts awaited.
Harley Brumbaugh’s 101 Voices of the Valley choir kicked off the second-annual Arts in Festival Hall expo of local art, photography, pottery, weaving and other crafts.
A fireworks show sponsored by George Wyrsch completed the weekend’s festivities.
