Zine workshop free to public

Fire up those magazine-creating juices! A free nine-week series of workshops called Zines for All: An Introduction to Zines and Book Arts, starts next week in the library at Mount Si High School.

Students, parents, grandparents, teachers and others can learn about zines (Do-It-Yourself personal magazines) and book arts. Included in the workshops are sessions on zine history and production, papermaking, silk-screening, rubberstamp carving, book-binding and more.

Workshops run from Oct. 21 through Dec. 16 with two sessions every Tuesday, one from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. and another from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Begun five years ago with support from the Snoqualmie Valley Schools Foundation, the workshops are free and open to all Snoqualmie Valley School District community members, ages 10 and above.

Space is limited to 10 participants. Call Mount Si High School librarian Elaine Harger to reserve a place at (425) 831-8155, or e-mail to hargere@svsd410.org.
