Volunteers perform nearly every task at the Northwest Railway Museum and all the necessary training is provided. Potential volunteers need only enthusiasm and some time. Join the museum for its spring training bash from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, March 19. This training is offered to interested, new and returning train crew volunteers 18 years old and over.

Training will include an operating rules and safety class required for all train crew volunteers, a brief history of the Northwest Railway Museum, an on-board orientation on the Snoqualmie Valley Railroad, a tour of the Snoqualmie Depot and exhibits, refreshments, lunch and an opportunity to meet and learn from other museum volunteers. There will be a rules test as the final portion of the training day at 3 p.m. This test is required for all volunteers joining the train crew program in April.

Volunteer opportunities at the Northwest Railway Museum are as varied as our volunteers. The train crew program offers the experience of an operating railroad. Become a museum guide and share your interest in history or public speaking. Help restore and rehabilitate the museum’s collection of artifacts while using existing skills or learning new ones. People of all ages and skill levels welcome.
