Julie U. Brown of Redmond has recently published her book “Angry Housewife Fights Tyranny,” in response to the election of Donald Trump as U.S. President
When candidate Trump said that he could molest a woman because he was famous, she was appalled. On Nov. 8, 2016 when he was elected President, she was infuriated. That night, she sat down to a notebook to express her shock. Writing became a catharsis.
She joined the Snoqualmie Valley Indivisibles to find respectable methods of protest. In these protests, she noticed that many of the participants were like her, people who were already too tbusy to be protesting unless it was of utmost importance.
Toni Canady, a 2015 Snoqualmie Valley Teacher of the Year, said, “The way she weaves stories from her personal life to make a point is moving and so easy to connect to…every woman in America needs to add her voice to be heard that we will not tolerate tyranny, in whatever form it rears its ugly head.”
Over the course of Trump’s first eight months in office, Julie examined her motivation for protesting, outrage exhaustion, and even the divisive effects of team spirit. In writing this book, she hoped that others might benefit from her journey.
