Adolescent life, learning and the high stakes world of competitive spelling is the theme of the Mount Si High School Theatre Arts department’s upcoming musical.
“The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” is onstage at 7 p.m. Wednesday through Thursday, April 14 to 17, in the Mount Si auditorium.
Tickets are $7 for students and teachers, $10 for adults. The show is rated PG-13 and may not be suitable for very young children.
In the musical, six young people in the throes of puberty, overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves, learn that winning isn’t everything and that losing doesn’t necessarily make you a loser.
“Putnam County” won a Tony award in its 2005 Broadway production.
