Winning for the first time, Wall to Wall Home Cleaning has been voted the winner of the Home Cleaning Service category in the Valley Record’s Best of the Valley vote. Wall to Wall Home Cleaning was started in 2012 by North Bend resident Emma Luttrell, and over the past five years she has been able to grow her business thanks to her local customers.

Luttrell started the business by herself and was the only employee for the first two years of operation. She left her previous job after the hours became too much for her to be able to spend time with her daughter.

“I started in 2012, I had been doing elder care and working for another cleaning service, and the hours were too much to keep up with a teenage daughter,” she said. “I worked by myself until it grew too big to do that.”

With a growing business, Luttrell was able to hire more staff and manage more customers. She has about three employees that work with her five days a week.

“I started out my business with one client and just really hustled hard, put my name out there, and it paid off… Within two years I went from one client to over 30,” she said. “At first I didn’t need more helpers, just needed one person to compensate for the work load, I had to bring on more people to have a second team available.”

Two of her main employees are her daughter, Kaya, and Jessica Phillips, who have helped her when she was unable to work after being diagnosed with cancer.

“My team really stepped up and took care of everything,” she said. “We are a small business and we are very close. I really appreciate my team a lot, I try not to overburden them and try to only put on their plate what they can handle.”

Her business philosophy is to look at the service she provides and question if she would pay for it herself. She is passionate about her standards and wants customers to feel like they are getting the most for the price.

“I’ve been in customer service of various types forever. One thing I know, if I was spending the money what would I want to see and how would I want to be treated spending money on this?” she said. “If clients aren’t happy then it’s obviously not going to work. The best way to keep them happy is to consider yourself and if you were spending money what would you want.”

Luttrell said being able to provide a service to the Valley has let her get to know her clients, in a way she never had before. A 17-year North Bend resident, Luttrell says the community of the Valley is what keeps her here.

“My clients are like family to me, most of my clients we have had them a long time. We keep things up and running. We know their pets and their kids. It’s awesome,” she said. “The community and the people and the support that I’ve had here, especially is what keeps me here. I lived a lot of places in my life, and I have never had such a sense of community as I have had in this Valley.”
